MTR’s tradition of food and hospitality began in 1924 with the establishment of the MTR Restaurant by the Maiya family in Bangalore. They diversified the business in 1975 and since then, they opened up a restaurant in India and abroad. One such restaurant is situated in Al Karama, Dubai. The restaurant provides some of the most traditional and authentic dishes from South India. They use ingredients flown in from the local farms of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh hand-picked by local farmers. First-timers can savour on their ‘Benne Dosa’- a rice and lentil crepe served with a dollop of unsalted white butter and coconut chutney. The ‘Mangalore Bun’ - mildly sweetened, deep-fried unleavened bread made with ripe bananas and flour is a savoury not-to-be-missed and while you are at it, do try their ‘Filter Coffee’ made from chicory using a traditional filter machine.
