Nestled at ‘Tito White House’ on the way to Anjuna, Michael Mascarenhas of the Flying Dolphin fame has recreated the ‘kitchen’ of Goa. His focus is on showcasing the heritage of the yesteryears past the areas of cooking with firewood, earthen pots and even the ingredients, which would be readily available to be thrown into the simmering pots. Guaranteed, one will find preparations not available in any other restaurant, as he has recreated the eating culture of the past in his menu. Raampon means fishing net and this net is sure to snare you. From kanji (a gruel of unpolished rice) to be had with pickle, the eleven’s favourite, to the samarachi kodi served with dried mango and the sabudana kheer (sabudana and lentils in a coconut milk base) – from the home kitchen to this establishment, he has laid it all out for you. For the vegetarians as well, the vegetable caldin, the local bhaji and dal are available along with the homemade pickles – lime, tendli and during the season even mango – depicting the Goan life.
