The Ohri’s group is known for their theme-based restaurants, and Serengeti at Banjara Hills is modelled after the African forest. Thus you have a dimly lit jungle with a small brook, a first-floor seating on the machan with a giraffe peeping out. This décor makes the restaurant a favourite with kids. The food is mainly North Indian with quite a few dishes from Awadh and Peshawar. A special attraction is their uncommon Indian bread varieties such as 'Sheermal', 'Taftan', and 'Bakharkhani'. You also have some Hyderabadi such as 'Tala Hua Gosht' and 'Murg Dum Biryani'. I would call the food adequate but not extraordinary, the service is not very enthusiastic either. In spite of this, they have a loyal family clientele who enjoy the ambience and have preferences for specific dishes. The handful of cocktails are the same as in most other Ohri’s outlets in the city, I sometimes wonder why they have the same 5 cocktails in most of their outlets.
