This 30-seater is spread over two floors of an old house, the erstwhile residence of legendary singer Debabrata Biswas, right in the middle of bustling Gariahat. Inside, the heady whiff of incense and a calming quiet greets you. The interiors are simple, quintessentially Bengali, with old-world cane furniture, bamboo floor mats and rugs and wicker blinds on the windows, and framed stills from Bengali classics line the walls along the staircase. They serve a simple spread, mostly comfort food such as sandwiches, fish fry, shakes and juices. Their signature sandwich is a simple two-tiered club with layers of chicken-cheese and egg-mayonnaise, or try the chicken and cheese stuffed home-style omelette. But, mostly, drop by if you are looking for some quiet time over a cuppa, with some Rabindra Sangeet (in Biswas’s voice) playing in the background.
