Nutcracker dolls are decorative toy soldiers, originally crafted for function in 17th Century Germany. Associated with Christmas and fabled for warding off evil spirits, their popularity spread as allied soldiers returned with souvenirs from the Second World War. While the choice of the theme at this Days Hotel coffee shop seems ornamental (there is no other European element to speak of), they do look adorable standing guard at every nook and corner. Another peculiar element, that you can taste, are breakfast Bento boxes for the hotel’s Japanese residents.
