For many of us, South Indian still means Idli Sambar, an array of dosas, but, there is a lot more to it. There is a whole range of Kerala style appam and curries with veg and non-vegetarian options. There are some finest South Indian restaurants in Pune which offer outstanding regional food when it comes to eating in down south. Many of these restaurants have ships travelled all the way from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and cook some fantastic meals.

Savya Rasa, Koregaon Park, Pune

This is the only premium fine dining South Indian restaurant in Pune.


it offers a whole range of Kerala style Biryani, Appam and curries, and, the unusual appetizers. The menu is segregated in each regional cities of the southern states of India.


The Kozhi Biryani and Mutton Biryani are some of the best sellers. You must not leave the place without eating the Elaneer Payasam.

This cafe offers has a basic South Indian menu. It is mainly South Indian breakfast dishes which are pretty much the favourite of most of us here. They make fluffy Idlis with Sambar that is made in-house. Their dosas and Uttapam are worth trying.

Dakshin Rasoi is a quick-service restaurant that offers some of the basic South Indian meals for lunch and dinner but also has some stellar breakfast dishes. The Tadka Idli and Rasam Vada are the best dishes to try from breakfast. They have a special Calicut Style Biryani which is very different from what you have been eating, so you must try that. Apart from the massive a la carte menu, they have the limited South Indian thali meals as well.
