Simran restaurant is located just opposite cantonment area in Ahmedabad. It is housed in a large 2-storied building with a compound. The restaurant is on the first floor and there is no lift and the ground floor has the takeaway section and also an open seating place which has trees lining the space. The restaurant is done up in a simple style with wooden furniture placed close to each other. It is a small restaurant but the open seating in the compound provides ample space. Simran just completed 20 years of operations in Ahmedabad. It is known for its Mughlai and North Indian food and it is always crowded in the evenings. One has to wait in line here as they do not have advance booking facilities. In Simran, you can get dishes cooked on the tawa or flat iron hotplate in a fast cooking style frequently used by street food vendors. Try the 'Gurda Kaleji', meaning mutton kidney and liver. There is also 'Mutton Kheema Kaleji', which is liver cooked in Mutton mincemeat. Also, the 'Bheja Fry' and the 'Bombay Chop' is very popular here. Order the 'Egg Boiled Bhurji'. It has an unusual taste.
