While I am happy to see the number of brewpubs coming up and with so much on offer, it is quite refreshing to hear of the opening of a new pub. Whattay is quite a trek away on KR Road, but thanks to the Metro being around, commuting is not too hard. You have craft beers served here as well as all the major bottled brands. They have a full bar as well with a range of cocktails, some specials and some classics as well. It is not too often you see the likes of a 'Moringa Shorba' on the menu. Small bites to go with your beers include the likes of 'Namma Potato Wedges' with podi masala and curry leaves powder, 'Beer Batter Onion Rings' (though my feedback to them was for a lighter coating of the batter), the 'Cocktail Sausage Masala' (which packs quite a punch in the spice department). Vegetarians can look forward to the 'Bhurji Pao', the 'Mushroom Guava Chutney', the 'Paneer Papdi' and the interesting, 'Tamarind Poppers'. These are an acquired taste though. Good partners with beers include the 'Andhra Chilli Chicken', the 'Honey Sriracha Jumbo Prawns', the 'Kodagu Pandi Fry' with 'Akki Roti' as well as the 'Lamb Empanadas'. Whattay has sharing platters, Pizzas, pastas and a range of continental main dishes, some of which have fusion style touch to them. You can also go the Indian way with the range of main courses – 'Bawali Handi', 'Paneer Lababdar', 'Butter Chicken', 'Alappuzha Fish Curry', 'Kundapur Mutton Curry', all call to your attention. The 'Rose Malai' and the 'Whattay Lava' make for lovely desserts.
