Ssaffron is one of the many restaurants in Shangri-La that offers you a dining experience that is multi-sensorial. From the dim, artistic lighting, to the water bodies with rose petals, it is the perfect setting for a great meal, whether with family, friends or even to impress out-of-towners. As you browse through the menu, the table is laid with complimentary papads that are refilled on a regular basis. But it is the three chutneys that come to the table (and there are variations too) that are irresistible. You have the mint, raw mango and green chilli chutney, the dates, jaggery and tamarind one, and a green chilli pickle that fire up those taste buds. If there is one dish that most diners swear by it is the 'Tulsi Kalonji Paneer Tikka'. These layered and stuffed discs of paneer are multi-textured and set the right tone for the meal. You can also consider ordering the 'Silbatta Ke Tikki', which is subtle and will make converts of beetroot haters. With beetroot and peanuts mashed together, this one has quite the nutty flavour going for it. The 'Bhatti Da Murgh' is grilled on coal which gives it a smoky touch and the aromatics used in the marinade come shining through. Moving on to the main courses, you can take your pick from the 'Paneer Kurchan', comes in a tomato based gravy and is given a flavour boost with Kasuri Methi. The 'Kadhai Sabzi' has a lovely bite to it and the touch of pepper makes it finger-licking. The 'Sabz Sunehri Handi' comes with an indulgent cashew nut and spinach sauce. You can also add in a 'Hing Jeera Ki Tadka Wali Dal' to your order and sit back a happy person. For desserts, the 'Rangoli Kulfi' is a great bet and the chefs do make a mean 'Khubani Ka Meetha'.
