With a name like BoomBox, you can expect music to be the centre of things here. And it truly is. BoomBox Cafe is a fairly new arrival in the city but has garnered fans for its live band performances, especially the qawwali nights. The first thing you notice when you enter here is the fact that even during the day, BoomBox has a night party mode on. For some, it could take a while getting used to the dimness. Adding to the ambience are bright red sofas and seats. The place also boasts of a low-seating in the centre of the hall, giving this place a lounge-like feel. The menu walks a familiar path bringing in a multi-cuisine spread. Given the fact that a younger clientele frequents the cafe more, the menu offers some interesting street fare as well. There is the uber-popular Keema Pao, dimsums, chakna et al. You will also find international favourites like 'Caesar Salad', 'Falafel with Hummus', 'Burritos', 'Nachos', 'Quesadillas', 'Thai Chilli Chicken' in the menu as well. The fact that the menu brings in everything goes in its favour. There are platters as well which offer Indian flavours apart from pizza and pasta selections. The main course is peppered with a mix again including Oriental fare. The 'Chicken Steak' we had was well done and arrived piping hot with the sides. The spelling mistakes printed in the menu are noticeable - noodles, deserts, tom-yum et al – but the recipes, thankfully, do not falter. The music is good but the ambience can get a bit dingy and stuffy. Also, this place is popular for hookahs, so keep that in mind before you come.
