The moment you step inside the lobby of JW Marriott Chandigarh, you are greeted by a buzz of conversations. Understandably, the lobby is the centre of activity in any hotel but at JW Marriott, it is the bustling coffee shop that takes much credit for the din. The open-plan cafe – the roundtables and people huddled over - lead you to the Chandigarh Baking Company. The hotel’s coffee shop extends over to the open lounge and we suggest that it is here that you park yourself for a cup of coffee. The sofas are plush and there is ample room for company. In fact, the seating is well designed and the huge glass panes on one side bring in the light and a view of the alfresco area. The menu of the Chandigarh Baking Company, more popularly referred to as CBC, packs in quintessential quick bites including speciality breads, cakes, cookies and chocolates from the hotel’s bakery. The menu is not a lean 2-pager and offers a decent selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Apart from a standard coffee list which also includes a 'Vietnamese Iced Coffee', there is a line-up of puffs and quiche, croissants, milkshakes, sandwiches, wraps, fresh fruit smoothies, muffins, cold beverages and variety of teas on offer. The puffs are well portioned and both the 'Chicken Tikka Puff' and 'Achari Mushroom Puff' will satiate hunger pangs at tea-time. Bringing in a few local flavours in the range of grilled and waffle pressed sandwiches. CBC works well for both late night coffee sessions with friends or official meetings over coffee.
