Shopping in Elante Mall can be quite hectic, especially on weekends. If you are out with family or are in a group, choosing where to dine can be exhausting too. That is why restaurants offering buffets are preferred and that becomes obvious as we step into Kelong. Brainchild of celebrity cookbook author Nita Mehta, Kelong is popular for family get-togethers or group dining like kitty parties. The brightly-lit restaurant does not really follow a theme as far as the interiors go. Unlike its name derived from a Malay word for an offshore platform built in the water, Kelong in Elante Mall is designed like a quick service restaurant. Long-running tables flank on each side with some accents on the wall. The buffet is promoted here strongly although they do have an a la carte menu as well. As is the trend in such restaurants, it is multi-cuisine bringing in two options - north Indian and Oriental. Unlike elsewhere, there’s a good line-up of soups on offer along with a section devoted to dumplings. The starters bring in Punjabi favourites like 'Malai Paneer Tikka', 'Bharwa Mushroom Tikka', 'Reshmi Kebab', 'Chicken Kasoori Tikka'...you get the drift. The 'Biryani', also a part of the buffet, was nicely done. If you are dining from the buffet, there is a good variety on offer. The buffet includes dishes from both cuisines and is very popular. You even have the option of paying for unlimited desserts. The pricing is pocket-friendly even though the menu is predictable.
