There has been a sudden spurt in the number of new lounges that have mushroomed in Chandigarh. Among the new arrivals is Pipe and Barrel. True to its name, the focus here is on the bar coupled with the hookah. The ambience brings in lighting effects in the basement and the result is a party mood. The seating is like it is in most lounges – plenty of straight back sofas in plush upholstery, cosy settings of tables and chairs. The bar is hard to miss with its circular lights and there is an accent wall with huge bottle caps as props. Given the lighting and the accents, it is quite popular on social media feeds. When it comes to the menu, Pipe and Barrel offers a mix of dishes culled from north Indian, Continental, Mexican and Chinese cuisine. Paying an ode to regional cuisine is an entire section dedicated to tandoori delights. Choose from the likes of ‘Bhati Da Murg’, ‘Murg Malai Tikka’, ‘Lahsuni Paneer Tikka’, ‘Hara Bhara Kebab’ to list a few. The main course offers a good mix of Continental dishes as well. If you are looking to try new dishes, opt for the 'Fish and Mushy Peas' or 'Vegetable Moussaka'. There is also a good line-up of pizzas, pasta, sandwiches and biryani. If you are looking for a place to relax but do not mind the hookah and the loud music, give this place a try.
