It is interesting to see how new dining places in Chandigarh are always looking to go out of the box with the choice of name and decor. However, the menu at a majority of the new places remains more or less similar. A fairly new arrival in Sector 7 is The Safehouse. While the name brings up images of a dark and dingy safehouse one sees in movies, this one is rather perky. The ambience is cool in blue and white and there are multiple levels to the dining space including a statement water body in the middle. The menu – titled spy food menu - here plays up the theme of the safehouse with quirky names to the dishes. So, a ‘Bengali Jasoos’ is actually Ajwaini Jhinga in plain sight. The ‘Mid Eastern Spooks’ is Falafel and chips; ‘Undercover Agent’ is mozzarella cheese breaded in Italian crumbs served with marinara sauce; ‘License to Kill’ is a peanut salad and the list goes on. It will take a while to decipher your way through the menu. ‘The Safehouse Grilled Meat Breakfast Platter’ is a good place to start and brings in an assortment of chicken sausages, pork sausages, ham, chicken breast and pork bacon. They are all grilled and finished in a barbeque sauce and served with 'Grilled Tomato', a 'Fried Egg' and 'Salad'. The service time was reasonable though it could be quicker.
