The Pelican Deck could easily take the award for being Chennai’s best-looking seaside restaurant. Though a little further away from the sea, the sound of the ocean and the sea breeze are not hard to miss. Perfectly lit cabanas share space with open-air tables, all of them getting direct views of the open kitchen. The look and feel of the restaurant, manages to make up for the small menu, that among other things misses a dedicated sides menu, so you are pretty much stuck with the side dishes that the chef decides to put on your grills. If you are not too picky though, the chef has done a good job in putting together enough on the plate, so you do not end up missing anything. Though small, the menu covers the staples in a side sea restaurant, with most meats, a lobster, and a couple of fishes, though live catch of the day is conspicuous by its absence. The service is extremely friendly, they are happy to give you dishes you do not order and at times, even a dessert on the house.
