After a revamp in 2015, Prego, now helmed by Chef Luca D’Amora, is in serious contention for the title of finest Italian restaurant in Chennai. The menu is pithy and you would not go wrong with live-rolled Pastas or the silken Lasagna. The slow braised pork belly, a rarity on the Chennai’s Italian menus, fabulously trumps over some of the best in the city. The Italian Chef’s deconstructed tiramisu might be Prego’s best kept secret, because for a dessert that is de rigueur at any Italian restaurant, this one will leave you with fond memories. Luca swaps boozy lady finger biscuits with an airy chocolate sponge cake soaked in Limoncello, and gets around the heavy mascarpone by using a foam gun. If nothing else, go to Prego just for this edgy take on a classic.
