Located in a prominent spot right on the main road, Al Jawahar is half the age of its more venerable, next-door neighbour Karim’s, but because of its cheery lack of pretension, it is considered just as good. There is no doubt that it is the choice of cuts here that make the meat soft and succulent, but as far as spicing and hygiene go, the neighbour still has the edge. Mutton qorma, mutton stew and changezi chicken is the way to go, helped down with their enormous rotis at Rs 8 a pop.
