About Beeryani, SDA, South Delhi
What this old-fashioned heart needs from time to time is a simple combo of beer and delicious North Indian food. Delhi is a place of diverse gastronomy. While one section of the city has adapted the modern global delights, the other half still maintains the traditional old-fashioned ways. Many pubs have taken the middle route with the culture and tweaked it as per the demands of the punters. And today we will explore one of the names on our list for that precise reason. Keeping up with the demands of the young generation and retaining the hold on the old one, ‘Beeryani’ manages to give its patrons the best of both worlds. Owned by an ex-Taj chef you can clearly see his stamp of excellence all over the menu. As the clientele is mostly students and young corporates, the ambience is casual and noisy.
Beeryani entertains a full-fledged bar and specialises in draught beer for which it is known all over the city. They combine their bar menu with a drool-worthy food menu and that combination is the key to their success. The restaurant became so much in demand that it chose to open two outlets in the southern vicinity. Busy grounds of Safdarjung Development Area and renowned Greater Kailash-2 saw the arrival of this lively place. The SDA outlet is a spacious property that splits over two levels, giving the patrons plenty of space to sit around. It is a bit cramped than the GK-2 outlet which we find is more spacious. Décor in both the outlets is similar and designed on the same lines. Cheerful yellow coloured walls sets off the dark coloured furniture. Huge framed mirrors, brass utensils and wall art is used to give the room a creative touch.
The rich culinary heritage of North Indian and Mughlai cuisines is explored by the chef of Beeryani. He tries to authenticate the recipes and present them with a unique flair. Food is traditional and quite delicious. With a tall glass of draught beer, start with fattehdar tandoori murg, kassa makai tikki, lahsooni makkhan jhinga, Salma soya, danedar Amritsari machchi, cheese fingers, nakalchi kekda and chumcha chapli. In the company of til dil roti or dum gosht biryani (that is what they are famous for after all!) mop up some curries such as, bakr keema sheema, pudina palak kofta, chak changezi murg, chaukor khadai paneer and palang tod bakra. Beeryani is affordable as well.
