Connaught Place’s longstanding Mexican restaurant, Rodeo, has reopened after an 18-month hiatus and how! Gone are the dark tex-mex interiors, replaced by an airy and peppy new space. The inner dining section features playful Mexican pop-references flanking a cantina-style bar and the outer section gleams with sunlight bouncing of white-plaster walls. I kicked off with a perfectly balanced 'Classic Margarita' served with a spicy little serving of 'Pumpkin Seeds'. My 'Nachos' sampler featured outstandingly seasoned hand-cut tortilla-crisps complimented by a smackingly fresh Tomato Salsa, sweet, sour and hot Mango Salsa, creamy and peppery Guacamole, sharp Green Tomato Salsa and a crunchy Pineapple & Onion Salsa. The star of my meal, however, was an oh-so-soft 'Tres Leches', enrobed in a lingeringly lactic icing, pine nuts and rose.
