If you thought that old-school Chinese food was only the business of jaded restaurants with worn-out dinnerware, then Sidewok will change your mind. The plush Malcha Marg outlet is arguably the most successful eatery in the diplomatic enclave outside of a five-star hotel. Its sleek beige and grey interiors are matched with helpful service and approachable food. There is a small Thai and Sushi section, but Sidewok’s strength lies in its Chinese food. A simple but nourishing 'Burnt Garlic Chicken Soup' was redolent of toasty notes while the 'Chicken Spring Rolls' were light, crisp and hard to put down. Sidewok’s popular 'Pork Spare Ribs' featured generously thick ribs with juicy, slide-off-the-bone meat. 'Hakka Noodles' were a great showcase of the kitchen’s wok skills with evenly cut vegetables, uniformly coated seasoning and that unmistakable wok hei. Sidewok’s Malcha Marg outpost is plush yet approachable making it perfect for casual family dinners.
