‘Tughlaq’ as the name suggests is Mughlai influenced but here the resemblance ends. Besides few Mughlai recipes the Tughlaq restaurant steps from Mughal to northern territory quickly. The restaurant is tastefully furnished and decorated with black and white photographs of Mughal architecture. The cuisine prepared in the kitchen is mostly north Indian with some innovative recipes thrown in. They have managed to keep Mughal influence by keeping some good Mughlai dishes on the menu. Food is well executed and quiet delicious. Tughlaq’s menu offers lot of selections so take advantage of the chef’s skills and order something fantastic.

The starter list is four pages long with choices in vegetarian, seafood, chicken and mutton based recipes. Some of the best appetizers are dahi ke kabab, chicken malai tikka, gandhari tikka, chana dal seekh, khumb ke galaouti, Pahari murg tikka, tandoori raan, Awadhi fish tikka and tandoori prawns. Choose any of the items and you would not go wrong. Soups are also part of the menu if you want to lean in that direction. Mains is similarly divided into four counterparts. It makes it kind of easy to choose amongst all that variety. Dal makhni and mutton roagn josh come highly recommended. There are many conventional recipes on the menu but their mutton section beats it all. The mutton preparations are so succulent and well balanced that they make your mouth explode with flavours. In seafood do try out malkhai jheenga which is prawns simmered in cashewnut and onion gravy. Mushroom and mutton biryani is enchanting as well. Their aroma fills the whole room when the lid is lifted. Accompany the biryani with cool raita. Tughlaq’s menu hosts Chinese cuisine too with lamb, vegetables, chicken, seafood in aromatic gravies.

Tughlaq has some traditional indian desserts on the menu like moong dal halwa, gajar halwa, phirni, Shahi tukda and gulab jamun. Crispy honey noodles with ice cream is their Chinese twist on dessert section. The restaurant is cheap and affordable. It will suit you very well for a budget limited dinner or lunch. The service is efficient too.
