If there is one iconic old dowager restaurant in the city, it would be this one. All the others of similar vintage have either been made over or have folded up. United Coffee House goes on with the same chandeliers and the same gold leaf curlicues on the walls as when it opened its doors in 1942. The sofas along the walls are difficult to snag. The signatures here are cheese balls, paneern pakoras, chicken a la kiev and cold coffee with ice cream.
