Dim sum means "touch the heart" which translates to Heart’s Delight. It is of Cantonese origin and originally it was served along with tea at the many roadside tea houses on highways. Unlike the Momo, Dimsums can have a covering of rice, wheat or potatoes, any starch-based flour. However, over the years it has entered fine dining kitchens and it is served in a variety of styles said to number almost 2000. Even Spring Roll is a type of Dimsum. Steamed Dimsums are normally served in bamboo steam baskets.

TG’s - The Oriental Grill, Hyatt

This restaurant is close to Vastrapur Lake. It is located on the first floor of Hyatt and is open for lunch and dinner. This place has a beautiful ambience with five huge Teppanyaki grills around which customers can sit so that you can see the food getting cooked before your eyes. Try the Chicken, Mutton and Prawn Dimsums here. They are all beautifully crafted.

Located off C G Road this restaurant is open only in the evenings. It is on the ground floor but one needs to enter the restaurant from the lobby as it is part of Hotel Regenta Antarim. Here you will get 2 different varieties of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Dimsums. Try the Baby Pokchoy, Spinach and Cashew nut Dimsum or the Prawns and Water Chestnut Dimsum served with Chilli Basil.

Asia Kitchen, Holiday Inn Express

Located on Ashram Road, Asia Kitchen is on the ground floor with an entrance from outside so one does not have to enter the hotel to gain entry here. It is open from 10.30 am to 11 pm. Here you will get lots of variety of Chinese and other Asian cuisines as the name suggests. Try their Spring Rolls.
