Kyani & Co., Marine Lines, South Mumbai
One of Mumbai’s oldest Irani cafes; Kyani & Co started as a bakery that made bread, biscuits, cakes and other tea-time snacks until 1995. In the early 2000s, a few more highly popular preparations were added to their menu to further enhance the Parsi dining experience. The Akuri here is an unparalleled flavor bomb and is most frequently ordered for breakfast and lunch.

A fairly new addition to Mumbai’s treasure trove of Irani restaurants, Irani Chaii has become popular among the locals on account of its delicious Parsi cuisine. The old-school wooden tables and chairs, mirrored walls & checkered tablecloths are all on point, giving the diners a true Parsi dining experience. The Akuri here is one of the most frequently ordered items on their menu, the pricing of around ₹ 70 per plate is also a plus point.

This almost century-old airy, well-lit café is a great introduction of old school Mumbai to newcomers. The Akuri here is one of their lighter specialties but definitely one of the best served in the city.

The Nutcracker, Fort, South Mumbai
Primarily a vegetarian joint with the exception of serving eggs (an extensive egg menu in fact). This charming bohemian eatery is the ideal all-day breakfast spot to head to. The velvety Akuri here is to die for and served with delightfully crunchy crackers or toast paired with the Breakfast in a Bottle (blended oats, milk, nuts, dates and honey) makes for the most wholesome breakfast yet.
