The process of whipping up this versatile superfood is nothing short of a creative opportunity. From berries to veggies to nuts, absolutely everything goes when it comes to the contents of a smoothie bowl. A great way to get in nutritious key food groups, this colorful blend of wholefood can be enjoyed as a breakfast, snack, or even as a full-fledged meal at any point in the day. Here are some of our favorite smoothie bowl recipes that are sure to get you hooked on these fruity babies.
1. Vegan Breakfast Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 heaping cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 small ripe frozen banana- sliced
- 2-3 Tbsp light coconut or almond milk (plus more as needed)
- 1 Tbsp shredded coconut (desiccated)
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- Add frozen berries and banana to a blender and blend on low until small bits remain.
- Add a bit of coconut or almond milk and blend on low again, scraping down sides as needed, until the mixture reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- Scoop into 1-2 serving bowls and top with chia seeds, coconut, and fruit or nut topping of choice.
2. Cantaloupe Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 cantaloupe/muskmelon, halved
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk /milk of choice
- 1 up. frozen berries of choice, plus more for garnish
- 1 banana, sliced into coins, divided
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple or mango
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp. vanilla essence- optional
- 1/2 cup granola/instant oats- optional
Instructions:
- Using a spoon, remove and discard seeds from cantaloupe. Use a spoon to widen the hole in the center, leaving a 1" border at the edges. Reserve removed fruit to add to the smoothie.
- Combine milk, berries, half the banana, pineapple, yogurt, vanilla (optional), and extra cantaloupe. Blend until smooth.
- Pour smoothie into cantaloupe "bowls" and garnish with more berries, granola/instant oats (optional), and remaining banana slices. Serve.
3. Crunchy Coconut Berry Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp. coconut oil
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 2 tbsp. sliced almonds
- 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 tsp. honey
- Frozen blueberries
- Frozen strawberries- sliced
- 2 medium bananas
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk /milk of choice
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a small pan over medium heat, heat coconut oil. Add coconut, almonds, and sesame seeds, and toast, stirring often, until slightly golden. Remove from heat and stir in honey. Transfer to a plate and let cool before breaking into smaller pieces.
- Combine bananas, berries, milk, and salt in a blender. Blend until smooth then divide evenly between two bowls. Top with fresh fruit and coconut topping.
4. Green Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:1–2 cups spinach
1 frozen banana- peeled and sliced
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup coconut water
assorted toppings: fruit, granola, seeds, nuts, etc
Instructions :
Add all of the ingredients to the blender in the order listed. Blend on high for at least 2 minutes or until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed. The smoothie should be thick.
Pour into a bowl, add desired toppings, and enjoy.
5. Dark Cherry Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup frozen cherries
1 cup spinach
1 banana
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons granola /instant oats
1 tablespoon chocolate chunks
1 tablespoon sliced almonds
1 tablespoon toasted coconut flakes
Instructions:
Combine cherries, spinach, banana, milk, peanut butter, and chia seeds in a blender until smooth.
Serve immediately, topped with cherries, granola/oats, chocolate, almonds, and coconut.
6. Mango Pineapple Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 banana frozen
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- ¼-⅓ cup coconut milk or milk of choice
- Coconut flakes & fresh fruit, to top
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients except for the toppings in a blender. Puree until completely smooth. Add more water if necessary to get it to blend completely smooth, or if you want a thinner smoothie.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and add toppings of choice. Enjoy.
