All your food dreams come true when you step into the narrow alleys of Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazaar. It is the oldest market in Delhi to indulge in shopping and sight-seeing, but the food overshadows everything else. The moment you hear the word Old Delhi, NiIhari, Dahi Bhalle and the famous Paranthe is what comes to mind; basically, the delectable food that is made on the streets of Chandni Chowk.  

The area around Lal Kuan and Jama Masjid is Muslim dominated and that reflects in the food too. The area around Chandni Chowk has more of Baniya and Jain communities, therefore, the food served here is purely vegetarian and sometimes even without onion and garlic. It is famous for non-vegetarian delicacies but has an equal number of options for a vegetarian too. Here is a list of places where a vegetarian can indulge when in this area.

Kake Di Hatti

Residing in the Fatehpuri Chowk, this is one of the oldest restaurants in the area. A simple restaurant that offers authentic Punjabi food at pocket- friendly prices. Kake Di Hatti is known for the size of its bread which is served on four plates. Simple and clean ambience with delectable food is what you will get here.

Must- have dishes: Dal Makhani, Paneer Butter Masala, Pineapple Raita and the show stealer ‘Kake Ka Naan’ which is enough for two or more people.

Natraj Dahi Bhalle Corner Wala

This eatery which was established pre-independence, runs successfully and gives a tough competition to the new entrants. This place is swamped with people throughout the day. They serve well prepared fresh food in a clean and simple place. Although there is no seating available, they do provide you with tables and enough area to stand and enjoy your food. The name says Dahi Bhalle Corner but this eatery offers other street food delicacies too, like Pav Bhaji, Aloo Chaat and Aloo Tikki.
