Jaipur is a treasure trove of culture for every explorer and foodie. The city is the dream destination always wowing with its architecture, cultural activities, colorful bazaars and local food. Food being a major attraction here, we have put together a hit list of the most noteworthy foods to try in Jaipur and where to find them.


Rajasthani Thali - Chokhi Dhani Village Resort

Authentic Rajasthani food at its best! Loaded with pure ghee. This beauty of a thali consists of daal, the all-famous Baati Churma, Sangri, Gatte ki sabzi and Kheer. This traditional feast accompanied by the ambiance, the local artists, folk dances, camel rides, and other activities makes for a truly captivating Rajasthani experience.

Must-haves: Gatey Ki Sbuzi, Rajasthani Kadhi, Nizami Subz Handi and Jungli Laal Maas.

Laal Maas - Handi Restaurant, MI Road, Jaipur

Famously serving some of Jaipur’s best Mughlai and Tandoori food since 1984, this village Dhaba-themed dining hall caters to all pallets, keeping in mind travelers and tourists. Not only are their meaty classics much appreciated, but they also have many toothsome vegetarian dishes as well for their patrons.

Must try’s: Palak Paneer, Afghani chicken, Jaisalmeri Laal Maas and Galouti Kabab

This iconic shop has been serving ‘lassi’ for more than seventy years now. Founded by Kishanlal Agarwal in 1944, it was the first of its kind in Jaipur. They have simple sweet, salted and sugar-free options. Lassiwalla has through the years been graced with some very famous partons as well like Amitabh Bacchan and Mukesh Ambani. Available in 200 ML and 400 ML sized ‘kulhads’, it is made with good quality thick curd and ice only (No water), perfect to beat the heat in scorching Jaipur summers!

Kachoris - Rawat Mishthan Bhandar, Sindhi Camp, Jaipur

All sorts of traditional Rajasthani 'halwai' delights are freshly made and served here on a daily basis. The prompt service at this heritage food joint, Crispy, spicy Kachoris and sugar syrup steeped Ghewar make for a great experience. Do not forget to get a box of Karchoris packed to take back home! The Dal-filled ones last the longest and travel the best.

Must-haves: Onion Kachori, Mava Kachori, Mirch Vada, Jalebi, Samosa, Ghewar.

Hibiscus Ice Tea - Tapri Central, C Scheme, Jaipur

The city's most famous tea bar, Tapri Central is quite popular with the younger crowd because of its trendy ambiance and its wide variety of beverages (50 kinds of tea and counting). There is an extensive variety of eats to choose from including everything from Indian to European preparations.

Must-haves: Hibiscus Tea, Khakhra Pizza, Bun Muska, Cheese Corn Shots, Garlic Bread with Cheese.

Ghewar - Laxmi Misthan Bhandar, Bapu Bazar, Jaipur

This generations-old restaurant is famous for all types of delicious street food like chaat, tikkis and sweets, all at very reasonable prices. With loyal patrons like the Royal Family itself, they have been serving up some of the country’s finest Ghewar. They also offer reasonably priced thalis to choose from!

Must-haves: Special Paneer Ghewar, Rabdi Ghewar, Akhrot Barfi, Raj Kachori.
