Top Places Where You Can Eat Under Rs. 100 in Kolkata
It May Be Cheap But The Food Is Bound To Leave You Satisfied
09 Sep, 2017 by Madhushree Basu RoyThere are times when one is under a bit of duress financially, especially for college goers with pocket money or people who have just started out with their careers. This usually happens towards the end of the month. During such time, eating out is definitely not an option. But for people in Kolkata, there are always options for any budget and it need not be street food. You can also find some decent eateries with a place to sit and enjoy a hearty meal under Rs. 100.
Location: 9, Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Near New Market
This eatery falls under the legendary category. It has been there for decades and was extremely popular during the 60s and 70s and even though, many eateries have opened since then, any mention of Moghlai Paratha and Anadi cabin is fondly remembered. One must try the rich and delicious Moghlai paratha made with double duck egg stuffing for only Rs. 46!! It will be a meal you will never forget.
Location: 9/1 Noor Ali Avenue, Park Circus Area
Funny name with an uncanny tag line “a name of purity” is located in the AJC Bose Road area just in the lane opposite to Missionaries of Charity. Their Beef Biryani is hands down one of the best in the city. The meaty flavour from the beef steeps deep into the biryani without overpowering it and yes, like all other Kolkata biryanis, they serve it with the most essential potato too. The best part is, it costs only Rs. 70 for a plate.
Location: 9A, Bikramgarh, Jadavpur
They started out with this location but soon branched out to 5 other locations. They are your typical Tibetan/ Chinese food joint with momos, thukpas and noodles and hopefully, the quality will not fall with every increase in their number of the outlet. The momos have juicy fillings and is just not thick dough. Chicken Momo for a plate cost Rs. 50 along with a Chicken Thukpa of Rs. 50 makes for a great meal at Rs. 100.
Location: 3A/1, Ho Chi Minh Sarani, Camac Street Area
Another eatery under the legendary section, it is popular for its quintessential South Indian basic food of a variety of dosas, idlys, vadas, uttapams, pongal with pachchadi and a hot cup of filter coffee. Every dish on their menu is under Rs. 100 but if you want indulgence, go for the Ghee Masala Dosa for only Rs. 85
Location: Near Rabindra Sadan Metro Station
It is a small eatery with very limited seating capacity. So if you don't find a place to sit, it is better to order a takeaway. The food, for its price, is simply satiating to the heart and soul. They are famous for their Biryani but if you want to stick to a budget of Rs. 100, then go for the rich Mutton Kasha with Roomali Roti and you will not be disappointed.
