This all-rounder café in Galleria is all set to redefine gastronomic paradigm in the city

After a month of canceled plans and procrastination, my colleagues and I finally set out to have a light-hearted team lunch earlier this week. And let me tell you the biggest problem in planning a culinary expedition amongst indecisive foodies is to zero in on one dining destination that everyone is okay with. So after roaming around in Gurgaon’s Galleria market trying to reach a decision for what seemed like an eternity, we finally struck gold and found ourselves at a brand new place, My Tea Chapel.

I have been to My Tea Chapel’s South Point Mall outlet and being familiar with their wonderful wonderful menu, I knew instantly that my teammates were in for a delightful gastronomic experience. As we entered the quaint eatery we were immediately greeted with an incredible aroma and a charming set up complete with pretty art pieces and comfy couches setting the tone for what was going to be an ultimate dining adventure. Once we were seated, chef extraordinaire Mahesh Padala walked us through their incredible curation and range of firsts in the menu his team is looking to popularize through this venture.

My Tea Chapel is a Pinsa and specialty tea, quick-service restaurant. In fact, they are the first Pinsa restaurant in the QSR space in India. To the unaware, Pinsa is a cloud-like pizza that gives you the best of worlds- a crispy crunch of a thin crust pizza on the sides and a super soft, light, & airy texture of a pan pizza in the middle.

Preparation-wise also, there are a lot of differences that make a Pinsa much healthier than its gluttonous cousin. The dough of Pinsa uses a combination of soy, rice, and wheat flour and is highly hydrated as it contains up to 80 percent water. Also, Pinsa uses less gluten, less sugar, less cholesterol, fewer fats, and has zero added shortenings, additives, or preservatives. So in a nutshell, Pinsa is a healthier heartier version of the pizza.

Between the five of us, we tried almost everything from their menu, and believe me when I say this that zeroing in on 1or 2 best choices from their stellar curation is a task that we are not prepared for. But being your forever dining guide, I am willing to share some of our absolute favorites.

The High Protein Salad with spicy salami, Roasted chicken, poached egg, rucola, parmesan- Garlic basil vinaigrette was creamy, rich, and yet so light with crisp juicy flavors. Next up we tried their signature Fresca Pinsa (mozzarella, artichokes, cherry tomatoes, rucola, parmesan, and sauce Vierge) that had a crispy crust and was just right balance of flavor & chewiness. The toppings worked together beautifully. The Strawberry Glazed Wonut, a cross between MTC’s signature Liege Waffles and Donuts was a sweet sinful treat that I just can’t stop thinking about! Their Boba Cold Coffee was seriously a revelation. The texture and the balance of flavor that this little treat had were just incredible.

We next moved on to the Signature Chopped Salad with garbanzo beans, tomatoes, bell peppers, onion, cucumber, rucola, parmesan- red wine vinaigrette dressing had a nice crunch to it and an unbelievable amount of flavor & freshness. Their Mediterranean Pinsa Pizza with sundried tomatoes, grilled peppers, zucchini, pumpkin, olives, basil pesto, fresh mozzarella over lighter crusty Pinsa base was simply a delight and so was the Walnut Chocolate Eggless Brownie with 55% dark chocolate that had a silky gooeyness to it and a melt-in-the-mouth fudgy texture. We also got to sample their Peach Iced Tea with Popping Bobas from their Boba Tea selection and it was an experience in itself. All in all, this one is one drink that you have got to try when here.

The Pepperoni Pinsa with signature Italian Pork pepperoni, tomato, and fresh mozzarella was an evident winner and had us all reaching it for it. The pepperoni used in the Pinsa is hands down the best we have had in Delhi! The Mediterranean salad was a light and airy delight that hit just the right notes. Their Japanese Matcha Boba Tea featuring a subtle matcha flavor and lots of tapioca boba literally has my heart!

My tea chapel tops our list of great restaurants in Gurgaon for its pretty décor and an incredible selection of delectable grub. And if you are a die-hard gourmand who is always on the lookout for the finest dining destinations offering unparalleled gastronomic opportunities then this is the place that needs to be on your foodie bucket list ASAP!
