In 2015, The Bombay Canteen opened its door and soon carved for itself a place of pride in the city’s dynamic dining scene and also people's hearts. Fast-forward to now, and this iconic café can easily be described as the big fat pulse of Mumbai’s food landscape.

Drawing inspiration from those retro heritage bungalows, Bombay Canteen is designed like an old Bombay home complete with a spacious veranda, stone walls, stained-glass windows, high ceilings, and a central dining area.

With a penchant for revolutionizing classic Indian cuisine, Bombay Canteen prides itself on recreating local dishes and reinterpreting age-old Indian traditions, to create an experience that toasts the old times and celebrates the new. The kitchen presents the classic yet unexplored charm of India’s versatile local cuisine with a new twist.

With an entirely unique approach that is fun and familiar yet innovative, their food focuses on reimagining traditional recipes using seasonal ingredients and showcasing them in a contemporary way. To put it simply, their menu is best described as India-inspired with a touch of ''Bombay love''.

The core philosophy of The Bombay Canteen is to showcase the incredible diversity of India and pay tribute to the untold stories behind the evolution of the local cuisine, which is also quite evident from their drinks menu that features a unique selection of reimagined classic cocktails with firm Indian roots.

Now coming to our food recommendations from this sizeable gem in Mumbai’s culinary crown, much like the rest of the foodies of the city we also absolutely love their signature preparation ‘Kejriwal Toast’ from their ‘’Sabka Favorite’’ section on the menu.

Their ‘Black Garlic Handvo Toast’ is another great choice. Loaded with Heirloom tomatoes, rhubarb chundo, whipped goat cheese, & Rajkot chutney this epic preparation offers an explosion of sweet, spice, tart, and cream on every bite.

If comfort food is what your inner foodie craves the most, then Bombay Canteen’s 'Slow Cooked Pork Belly Thukpa' will work like a charm for you! Featuring perfectly cooked handmade noodles, radish greens, egg yolk, crackling furikake, this feel-good preparation is the real MVP.

Also make sure to try their delectable 'Soft Shell Crab Koliwada', batter-dipped and fried to perfection, served with a tangy and spicy tamarind garlic chutney.

If in the mood for something light then their famous 'Barley Salad' is just the thing to go for. One of the many classic dishes of the café, the salad features a mix of Barley and Jowar grains with pomegranate seeds and Dope of Hung Curd Dressing. Also a great option for those who are health conscious.

End your meal on a sweet note by rewarding yourself with a slice of their comforting, delectable, and super nostalgic 'Mango Cheesecake' with fresh mangoes, mango coulis, and candied pistachios on top for that much-needed crunch!
