The Latest from The House of Theobroma

12 years ago when Chef Kainaz Messman opened the doors of this cute bakery in the tony neighbourhood of Colaba, it instantly became a household name with its brownies being one of the best in the city. Over the years the number of patrons grew and so did the number of outlets in the city. Known for its consistent product quality, it can be easily termed as the city’s favourite bakery and pâtisserie. So, when a brand new concept was launched by the house of Theobroma this month, all food lovers sat up and took notice.

Three Chicks and A Bear, a burgers and shakes specialist, located at the spacious ground floor of Lodha Supremus at Lower Parel is brand Theobroma’s latest offering.

The décor is tastefully done with ample natural light complimenting its pastel walls.

The menu comprises of classics and some new innovations. The appetizers are interesting with the crispy sambal spiced squid served with their signature curry leaf and lemon mayonnaise. They have given a fun twist to the regular Mac and cheese and turned it into fritters that are served with their homemade hot sauce.

The very spicy chicken wings glazed with fiery buffalo hot sauce is not for the ones with a mild palate! A variety of homemade sauces is their USP.

They have a concept of sharing plates on the menu which is great for a group of diners. One can choose from pan seared meatballs (chicken or tenderloin) in a fresh tomato basil sauce, cheese poppers or nachos with a variety of toppings ranging from pulled pork to barbeque chicken.

Their burgers, the star of the menu are undoubtedly one of the best in the city at this point. One can choose from the 5 different tenderloin burgers ranging from Mexican chilli corn carne to American Mac and cheese and even one with the French blue cheese. There is the classic BLT as well. The burgers here are cooked medium-well and the meat is of excellent quality.

The chicken burger comes in 4 different varieties from Louisiana fried chicken to the Canadian pulled barbeque chicken. The Thai pork belly burger and the Brazilian slow cooked burger are definite hits!

For the vegetarians, there are interesting options such as the chaat burger with sweet potato and chilli garlic chutney, falafel burger and the beetroot version.

The dessert menu is impressive with the classic apple crumble and bread pudding. The cookie dough served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce is delicious and so is the salted caramel and chocolate cake.

The shakes deserve a special mention. Imagine Theobroma desserts turned into shakes with homemade ice creams! They are delicious and also adds a touch of nostalgia as one gets the taste of their all time favourite Theobroma desserts in a glass. The red velvet shake and the blueberry cheesecake shake are worth trying.

Three Chicks And A Bear is an experience one needs to have for the love of great burgers and sinful shakes.
