The Goan and seafood specialty restaurant at the Taj Holiday Village has Master Chef Rego's special touch. It takes on a whole new world of Goan-Portuguese fusion food. The restaurant has a stronghold on authenticity. Food is a serious business as one of the trainees who trained under Chef Masci keeps a tight reign on the produce. Try the salada de Beach House — prawns, pineapple, spring onion and lettuce with a hint of chilli lemon dressing. If chicken takes your fancy then try the loojinho de galinha jirem mirem (pan seared chicken skewers flavoured with cumin and peppers). For the mains a must have is the whole crab xec xec (a thick spicy crab curry flavoured with roasted spices and coconut). A rather messy affair but do get adventurous and get your hands dirty as you crack open the crabs. The traditional fish curry and rice has the chef’s personal touch to it. Sweets in Goa are another legacy of the Portuguese. The bolo chocolate con caju — a cake with chocolate and cashew nut, served with ice cream. Bebinca is another old favourite.
