Located on the bustling streets of Candolim is a quaint place called Bomra’s, run by a Burmese gentleman Mr. Bawmra. Food inspired by the Chef himself, the menu has evolved over the years with the influence of other global ingredients creep into the preparation without disturbing the agreeable flavour of the combinations. Walk into the space under a canopy of coconut and mango trees to be greeted by banana saplings making their presence felt, cloth chandeliers and butterfly styled drapes over granite tables and cane chairs, the establishment reeks eco-friendly creativity. Order the tamarind margarita with the purple spinach salad to start on. Derived from the local ‘tambdi bhaji’ is flavoursome and colourful. For the carnivore in you, the slow roasted young aldona pork is a crowd pleaser with its main ingredient, enhanced by the use of wasabi pumpkin mash and spinach. The Burmese tea-leaf salad and the homemade shantofu compliment the mains very well, along with the steamed snapper and the crispy pork with pomelo and pomegranate. Do not leave without sampling some sinful dessert treats such as the chocolate fondant with homemade vanilla ice cream with the vanilla pod being sourced from Goa locally.
