Named after the first hippie who set foot in Goa, Cheap Charlie is a small compact bar that creates its own impact when you walk in of the bustling streets of Candolim. The stark black and white frescoes, the twisted murals that wind around ceiling of the bar counter like overgrown roots of a tree trunk, is imaginative like mother nature waiting to entangle you in an embrace. The seating, both inside and outside limits itself to basic garden chairs in the air-conditioned arena and comfortable sofas outside. Nibble on a wide variety of succulent kababs and sip on some heady cocktails. The prawn masala and mutton seekh kabab are favourites. The chef aims to please, so do ask for the specials of the day but for all you meat lovers do not leave without trying the tandoori lamb chops. The place sure gives you a feeling of a groovy vibe and takes you back to the day in the life of a ‘hippie’.
