In the by lanes of Panjim, an old place has been converted which brings back memories of yesteryears. Enter from the narrow road and you land yourself in this old fashioned bar. It is set in one corner with timings of the departure of the Caminhao (old bus). This restaurant concept reeks of research and has brought nostalgia to the fore. The walls are plastered with interesting photographs, old antiques with tables and chairs to suit the era. The ‘taverna’ has a series of inner rooms for one to choose their spot. The special ‘bhajjias’ of prawn and teesroi go well with a misturade kop (cocktail) or a shivrak kop (mocktail). The use of the local language verbiage adds to the charm. It is just the right place to sit for a drink and nibble on some starters. The music from the radio plays local music. The tisreo dangar – six fried shellfish cakes on a banana leaf are a fast seller and must be tried. A very charming and quaint tavern in Panjim, throwing reminiscence to an old world gone by.
