Absorb is one of those spaces that makes you go ‘Woah’ the moment you step in. Flanked by dull concrete structures on three-sides, the façade offers little indication of what to expect inside. The focal point of Absorb, which tries to channel Baliesque party vibes, is a massive Garuda sculpture behind the bar. Crumpled black wall, deliberate lighting, and luxuriant blue curtains and upholstery work together to create a chic and refined space. Absorb is open-air, however, it has a retractable glass roof to shield patrons from inclement weather. The seating is a mix of elevated bar tables and lounge-style sofas. Absorb typically hosts DJ performances on weekends. Two large screens broadcast popular sporting events. The cocktails here are well made; the usual classics can be ordered in sharing sized pitchers. The food here is par for the course – not particularly impressive but adequate enough to play second fiddle to the drinks. The selection features plenty of Indian and Asian bites along with a bit of global cuisine.
