Strategically located, but with an unnoticeable signage and lost in an overcrowded façade, Bastian can easily be missed unless you go looking for it. This restaurant delivers its promise of hearty seafood with a plethora of fish and crustacean delights to choose from, expectedly at a price. With Chef Kelvin Cheung of Ellipsis fame at the helm, there is no doubt at all about the innovative twist to the dishes. The eclectic menu wows the palate of every seafood lover, as do the bold flavours. Diners can choose their main ingredient from seafood and also decide the sauce they want it in. With sticky Japanese rice as the base and eggplant tartare with miso glaze over it, the ‘not eggplant sushi’, I tried, was sheer brilliance. The gluten-free Korean seafood pancake offers variety in textures and flavours. The bar area is lively and many opt for that section to relax and watch the bartenders in action. Animal prawns, salmon jalapeño, wild mushroom tom kha, are some of the favourites in the food menu.
