Cafe Churchill was the go-to place for Continental food in Mumbai in the 1990s before the explosion of Continental restaurants here in the mid-2000s. Even today this small restaurant, which serves old-school, club-inspired (read heavy on cream, often deep-fried) Continental food, retains its popularity and has people queuing up. The crowd is a mix of regulars and tourists. The sausages with firecracker sauce and the garlic bread are popular starters. The prawn pasta in Newburg sauce is a classic main. The pasta menu is pretty extensive and the plating is very basic. This is also the place that has introduced cheesecakes to many in Mumbai and its dessert fridge is a popular destination.
