A bright and cheerful ambience beckons you as you enter this spacious café at Kamala Mills, the dining hub in Lower Parel. The menu is exhaustive as there are specialties from three Grandmamas – Bombay, Italian and Parsi, to choose from. From bruschetta to pizza and harissa fish skewers to akuri on brun, this café offers it all. And, if a light meal is what you are seeking, there are salads, soups, burgers and sandwiches to pick from, apart from beverages. Comfort food in the form of rajma chawal and keema pav also find a place here. The bibiji ki achari khichdi which I tried was straight out of any grandmother’s kitchen – hearty, with simple, unpretentious flavours. Equally robust was the Grandmama’s roast chicken, again, cooked in her inimitable home-style, served with the classic rosemary mash and pan jus. This place is a popular choice for breakfast as well. The bar menu is impressive. Popular dishes here are mac and cheese, Malabar prawn curry, Belgian chocolate shake and choco chip pancake.
