Dhadoom is such a colourful place! Right at the entrance of the restaurant, there is a statue of a well-muscled guy with eight packs dressed only in beach short with a huge cone of French fries in his hand. The interiors of this restaurant are also very colourful done up in bright colours. The walls have black and white sketches of cartoons and also brightly coloured cartoon characters. The food is served in red, orange and blue plates and water in bright yellow glasses. The whole theme is all about having fun. Fries are served in fun way, in bright cones or even in toys like dumper truck. The menu card is also done up in pink, blue and yellow. The menu has a variety of French fries with different sauces, rubs and various combinations. There are also soups, starters, sandwiches and kinds of pasta on the menu. Most of the dishes are douched with cheese sauce and other sauces like Barbeque sauce. Children would love it but it is definitely not about healthy food. The names of dishes are also unique - 'Namak Halal', 'When Chakli Met Schezwan' and even 'Teenage Mutant Pizza Pasta'. The restaurant also serves 'Sejal Behen’s Khichdi', 'Santa Banta Paneer Labaabdar' and 'Shin Chan’s Schezwan Paneer'. The whole menu is full of weird sounding dishes
Three of us had lunch here on a Saturday and at the time, no line waiting so we were seated quickly. Many great food and beer choices. Our server was friendly and explained the business model- cash or local checks only and employees do everything so you may have multiple servers attending to your needs. The food was very tasty and everyone was quite satisfied with their choice. Burgers come with tortilla chips but if you want fries, there is an additional charge. It’s better to order a large basket of fries to share, but be sure you let your server know you want these delivered with the meal, otherwise they’ll assume you want these as an appetizer and you’ll fill up on these before your meal arrives. We enjoyed our beer choices. Many to choose from. It does get busy as evidenced by the long line that appeared shortly after we arrived. There’s a patio to enjoy as well. I agree with another reviewer that the cash only idea could be troublesome for those who don’t know but they seem to explain that before you order. Overall, we enjoyed it and will be back.
I've been on a weird poutine kick lately, and this place is the best! I also seriously recommend the wings. But, don't forget your CASH!
I would say overrated to start. Yes, I would return, but somewhat grudgingly. Great selection of beers, fantastic in fact, and a pretty good menu...good, not great. Popular place it seems in the area, which may add to the 'mystique' that staff seem to have about this place, and not worth the 30 min wait. Really, no different from so many other places in Boulder, and being off Pearl, with Pearl like pricing...yeah, I dont know. But, great beer selection, decent menu, our waiter was good (unlike hostess and bar person), wait was bad. I'll be back, but not high on my list.
Kids friendly place with good food and local beers . You can taste beer samples before ordering beer from a long list. Food was good and served all at once without eating too long.
I first went to the Mountain Sun the very first week it opened back in the 90s. It was so new there weren't even cushions on the bench seats yet, but even as a kid I knew this was real Boulder - murals on the walls, hippies in tevas serving craft beer before craft beer was The Thing it is now, and an overall vibe that it's all good, and this is the life, man. I worried The Southern Sun wouldn't hold the charm of the original place, that it would somehow be cheapened by south Boulder's more residential vibe, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The food continues to surprise me (the drenched burrito! AmeriMex at its best) and the beer list is epically good. If you're looking for a slice of Old Boulder/Real Boulder/pre-million-dollar-homes Boulder, head over to The Southern Sun. It won't disappoint.
