You know how there are times when the presence of one person at a restaurant can give you the assurance that your meal is going to be great no matter what? Well, Jeson Kurian has that ability. And that is why when we met him at Bologna, his new restaurant, we were so sure about it being a fabulous experience. Start with Antipasti such as the 'Caprese di Bocconcini' – the fresh Bocconcini comes skewered with tomato, Italian Basil and with a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Another great option here is the 'Porchetta di Parma con Aioli'. This comes with mayo and garlic and is lovely. And the 'Carpaccio di Manzo' – delicately sliced raw tenderloin with a freshly pounded basil pesto and parmesan shavings will have you wanting it multiple times over. The 'Cream of Broccoli Soup' is a soul-warming and as is the mixed seafood soup. Among the Pasta, we opted to have the 'Gnocchi di Patate with the Cream of Mushroom Sauce'. This was eaten up soon enough and the complimentary bread basket helped in mopping up all that lovely sauce. The herbed butter on the side helped as well. Among the specials is the 'Cannelloni' and this with the 'Beef Ragout', with some 'Red Wine' on the side is clearly what the doctor asked for on a relaxed weekend. I tried the 'Tagliata di Manzo' – sliced tenderloin with grilled vegetables, mash and a red wine jus. And yes, they got the medium done really well. You could try the 'Classic Tiramisu' for dessert or the 'Peanut Butter Mousse in Chocolate Sauce' is decadent.
Needed somewhere as a stop off on our way to sutherland. Good example of a modern youth hostel. Clean ,bright, spacious. Good cooking area, staff were all great, not far from centre of town . We had a 3 bed room with private bathroom, great shower!
My expectations weren't too high as it supposed to be just one-night-stay cheap place just to get some sleep before further journey. But I was pleasantly suprised. Firstly - everything was clean and in order. Room service does a great job in my opinion. Rooms - we slept in a single room for 5 people. Not too spacy yet sufficient and practical. Bathrooms - clean and overall okay. Service - very friendly and professional. Food - you could buy 2 options for breakfast. Both were satiating and tasty. If you look for a cheap place to stay for a short time - then seek no more.
Stayed for 2 nights with family. The Restaurant has excellent facilities for breakfast, the continental can be had without booking however the complete breakfast has to be pre booked. The place was kept very clean and the toilets were hygienic. The kitchen was well organised and the front desk are very cooperative. the parking spaces can be a bit tight, especially when there are bikers visiting the hostel as they tend to use a lot of space. The drying room was not warm enough to dry out our shoes completely. The WiFi works well.
Stayed for 2 nights on our way back from Stornoway. 2 comfortable nights stay. Staff were friendly and professional. Dorms small but manageable. Kitchen decent size and well equipped. It's a bit of a walk out from the middle of Inverness, but can be an enjoyable walk.
We love a Youth Hostel and arrived here at the end of the Great Glen Way. We arrived early, but were unable to check in early. They did let us store our bags and we managed a bit of a clean up in one of the public loos there. It's a bit of a walk out of the town, but fine. The facilities in the kitchen were good, but it lacked a bit of community and friendliness. Good laundry, but you can only use it later in the day after the staff have done the laundry so that's a bit of a bind when you have wet kit. The drying room was not very warm so our boots didn't dry out over night. The rooms were ok, but there was a lot of noise from another room, which isn't really in the spirit of a Hostel. A bit tired, could do with a bit of tidying up. The staff were nice though.
