This property will blow you away with its looks, food and service, in that order. Once you step up this space, you will feel you are inside an old mansion in Kolkata which has been dressed up and maintained each day by the granny of the house, for you to feel pleasant. The quaint chandeliers, forest green and yellow tones with white underlines, which are specific to the region of Kolkata are very neatly executed here. The service is quite nice and the servers too, will greet you in the Bengali language, they surely look dapper! The menu is very well curated and the food tastes equally great. With the inspiration from China town, Lanka pickles and seafood along with coconut, the combinations of the meat and masalas are very true to the Bengali food and how it gets all those roots. For instance, the ‘Chicken rubbed in Lanka Pickles’ is outstanding and the 'Green Chili Aachar' really hits the spot well. The 'Tangra Style Chili Fish' is the fish rubbed in the Chinese spices which are in fact desi, inspired by the China town lanes of Kolkata. These are those dishes which you would have had during evening snacks and strolling around the streets. Of course, there is enough choice for mains as well and it starts with the ‘Aaloo Posto’ or ‘Begun Bhaja’; the traditional classics which you can not miss. The seafood menu has some really promising and delicious dishes on offer: ‘Boneless Elish Paturi’ is that one classic you must eat: the flavour of mustard, some coconut and nicely grilled fish really has a great ‘patrani’ ring to it. Should you want some red meat or chicken, the ‘Kasha Mangsho’ is a good choice that pairs up well with ‘Masala Soda’ or the Mojito. The range of rice include 'Pulao' which are actually this milder version of a Biryani, but they do not add potatoes to the Pulao like the Biryani. Perhaps, that is something you will miss while you are in Bangalore. The ‘Chingri Pulao’ however, is the most promising one. The ‘Baked Rossogulla’ is an excellent rendition and it is drenched in sugar syrup and some ghee as well. Now that adds a whole new dimension to the dish. If you are bored with the regular and classic Sandesh, they have the ‘Icecream Sandesh’ which is served frozen of course, and the chills from the flavours of kesar and pista shine out bright.
