I visited Zuri, Whitefield as part of a staycation that my family decided to treat ourselves to. The first thing to strike me was how this a hotel that does not go all-out with publicity but is one that you can be assured of a fabulously good time at. Breakfast buffet at Karibu - 2 days in a row offered ample choice – extensive, well-defined counters for international and Indian favourites, a bakery section, juices and live counters operating in the dining area as well from the kitchen catering to just about anything that you may want to indulge in. The pancakes come with honey, the choice of chutneys, in freshly ground and powder versions are lovely and service impeccable. We opted for some late night in-house dining one evening. The 'Make Your Own Pizza' section (the woodfire oven is in the dining area and you can see it being made) gives you some great options like asparagus, artichoke, mushrooms and more for the vegetarians. No staid ingredients here. The meat options include 'Parma Ham', marinated fish, anchovies and more. The 'Porcini and Asparagus Risotto' is a great choice. And if you are going the English way, then the 'Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops' is a good option. You can customize your meals here to an extent and so if the heart asks for some 'Egg Fried Noodles' you can definitely order that. End on a sweet note with desserts that are not run-of-the-mill like 'Moong Dal Halwa' and some 'Philadelphia Cheesecake'.
