Situated in the Royal Orchid Hotel on the Old Airport Road, Limelight has a very warm and welcoming vibe. The interiors are done in shades of cream with splashes of colour given in the upholstery and stained glass panels above the display kitchen window and on the adjoining wall. The ribbed ceiling and the glass panels defining the space of the restaurant, make it seem even more spacious and open. The internationally inspired menu has something to suit every palate. The Chicken Parmigiano is a hearty maincourse dish accompanied with Mushroom Risotto and Tomato Frito Sauce. From the Indian section, the Mutton Coconut Fry is an appetising dish, with tender pieces of mutton cooked in a spicy coconut and pepper gravy. Accompany it with a flaky Paratha with an option of plain, ajwain and dried methi available.
All day dining restaurants are often the best kind of restaurants because of their capability to serve at ungodly hours and their encompassing menu. Throw in some stunning interiors and you have a hit on your hands. ‘Limelight’ is Royal Orchid Hotel’s all day dining venture and is simply doing beautifully. At Limelight they have tried to step away from the conventional decors and have embraced a European theme in their interiors. A wide generously spacious room is broken by two huge pillars and multiple visual reliefs. Interesting random arches are engraved on the walls highlighted by soft contrasting colours. The décor is bizarre in a subtle way which kind of works wonderfully. Pretty simple furniture is placed at various places with good enough space between them. This brightly lit restaurant is not only cheerful but is also quite charming. The service provided at Limelight is cordial and prompt. The staff does their best to attend you and help you in any way they can.
The charming interiors and lovely outdoors makes Limelight a popular choice for Sunday brunches. The clientele of the restaurant is diverse with smattering of locals and majority of in-house guests. Day starts quite early for them with guests coming in for hearty breakfast with a newspaper/book tucked under their arm. The staff very nicely offers them choices between American, Indian or South Indian breakfast. As refreshments the patron gets varieties of tea, coffee, smoothies, shakes and fresh fruit juices. But as the sun falls out of the sky craving for something savoury grabs you so you come looking for a lovely three course meal at Limelight. Make things easier by beginning with a Caesar’s salad, prawn rasam, paneer khaas tikka, spiced nachos with salsa crudo and yogurt dip, old fashioned chicken & lettuce salad, plum tomato soup and kebab platter.
If you are in a time crunch then opt for a quick grab of juicy burger or sandwich but if you plan to stay then linger over a plate of beautiful smooth pasta or risotto. More conventional mains are also part of the menu such as, grilled new Zealand lamb chops, mutton coconut fry, tarkari biryani, fish curry, chicken parmigiano, palak khumb kofta and paneer hara pyaz. Enjoy the curries with a basket of crumbly layered flatbread. Limelight has a separate night menu which is mention-worthy. Finally end with tiramisu or chocolate mousse and walk away happy after paying only twenty-two hundred bucks for two.
