This Mainland China is located a stone's throw from the Kundalahalli signal on the main Varthur Road. The entrance is marked by three life-size Chinese figurines that make for a good photo op if you are the kind who keeps whipping out their smart phones for a click. The restaurant offers large, airy interiors and seating next to the glass frontage that looks out onto the road, as well as a long line of tables at the opposite end. The flavours here are more pronounced than at their other branches, and the credit goes to the kitchen staff. Nevertheless, it is also not so outlandishly different as to break the taste threshold for Mainland China's other branches. The vegetarian manchow soup and the lemon coriander soup with chicken and basil come recommended, along with the potato wedges dipped in garlic sauce, fried baby corn and mushroom dim sums, the wok-tossed Hakka noodles, the drums of heaven and the fragrant pot rice. In desserts, the brownie with hot chocolate sauce and date ice cream gets a special mention.
We were here for dinner. The ambience was great, calm and soothing. We ordered from almost every category. We started with soup, Vietnamese clear soup was really good. Next we went on to dimsums, Thai style dumplings were ok, but not that great, the flavor was not very appealing. Honey chilli potato were phenomenal, very crispy, perfect sweet, perfect taste. In the main course we went for Japanese wheat noodles and vegetables in smoked chilli sauce. Wheat noodles were different and good, gravy was a bit spicy though.. In the desserts we went for sizzling brownie, soft and tasty as one would want. The service was also very great, they provided us iced water when they found out the food was spicy for us. They also taught us how to use chopsticks :)
Must place for Chinese food lovers - awesome food. We ordered Soups - tasted awesome - 4 stars Hakka Noodles Chicken - 5 stars Chicken Fried Rice (Lemon Grass) - was a little spicy - 4 stars Chilly Chicken in Basil Sauce - 5 starts The only blooper among the food items was Stir fried veg which was ordinary. Else, the preparation was awesome. They also complimented us a with Ice cream and chocolate roll which was worth appreciating. It was a great time over there @ Whitefield Mainland China
We had a booking at 9 PM, but were late due to heavy traffic. I informed Mainland China and they were courteous enough to hold my booking. We ordered Hot and Sour chicken soup but once it arrived we realized that it contained Eggs to which my girl-friend is allergic. We requested them to change the soup and they promptly changed the soup. The main-course was excellent as well. Overall, a great experience. Recommended.
Last week we went to taste the newly launched menu at Mainland China. Situated on a standalone building on the Varthur main road, its noticeable from far off. A valet parking makes life easy at Mainland China. Interiors are beautiful as in other branches and has a warm, nicely lit ambience of a classy fine dine. A huge seating capacity, A Full bar, 3 huge copper statues and a big screen are the first objects that I noticed as I entered the restaurant. The restaurant was relatively not that much crowded as is expected on a Saturday night. The very joyful Mr''Sujoy'' from staff made us comfortable and took our food preferences. A glass of Mohito was very much refreshing, as I was quite thirsty. Then came the starters. We started with two veg and two non veg dimsums. In Veg, I loved the green Corn and water chestnut dim sum. It also looked very appealing. The Thai style chicken dumpling just melted in my mouth- super soft and yummy! Then came Crispy Lotus Stem chips which were deep fried and seasoned with pepper. It was a instant hit. To give a tough taste competition, they served Zucchini Rolls with Truffle oil. I just loved it. Next came the very famous duck rolls. But I found it a little oily and there is much scope of improvement. Crispy corn came in fancy little papad buckets which looked very pretty. It was more of a mouth freshener for all of us! By this time my second drink arrived which was Nutty Blue Vodkatini. It was simply yucky with a cough syrup like taste, though it looked very appealing. The star of the show was the Dynamite Prawns. The presentation was unique with prawns being delivered from under white fumes. Though I don't consume prawns, I got a good feedback about the dish from my friends. The service was a little slow and main course came pretty late. They served soup along with main course. The Tom Yum soup had a dominance of lemon grass which could have been better. They served next Japanese wheat noodles along with Veg Fried rice. To pair them, we had- Burnt Garlic Fish with seasonal Greens and Chicken with Chili and Basil. The chicken came in a clay pot and it was super yummy. After the wholesome starters and main course, there was little room left for desserts. However the Chocolate dome with ice cream and chocolate sauce looked so lucrative and thus I grabbed a bit of it. Pros: Great Ambience, Great Food, Zomato Gold Partner (1+1 on food) Cons: Little slow service
Loved the food and the service. We were a group of 8 for lunch and since the place was empty, all the staff were serving us :D Loved the chicken starter and the chicken hakka noodles. Definitely going there again. The fact that they did not have hoegarden was a let down though!
