There was a time when people would talk about the kababs and the biryani at Samarkand. Today, the chatter might be less, but the crowd has definitely not thinned. The menu focuses pretty much on northwest frontier food, and you will enjoy pretty much everything you order. Order the flavourful yakhni shorba (lamb soup) and the galawati kabab. For vegetarians, the peshawari paneer tikka or the anjeer kabab (kababs made with potatoes, paneer and fig) are rather good, as is the dal Afghani. Their gosht ki dum biryani is one of the best in town. For dessert, try the qubani ka meetha (stewed apricots with nuts).
