For those who enjoy a meal with lots of meat thrown in, the kodavas are a blessing. Their ability to balance rusticity with finesse is what sets their cuisine apart from most other South Indian food. Plus, they gave the world pandi curry. The Coorg Food Co has a simple menu that does not digress from what it set out to – serve Coorg food. Begin with the kodava koli bhartad (pan-fried chicken with pepper and traditional spices), and the famous smoked pork. Go for the Thith Pandi, a signature, only if you can bear the hot bird’s eye chilli. For main course, it is kadambuttu (steamed rice balls) with either mutton keema curry, or pandi curry all the way. Finish the meal with khus khus payasa – payasam with poppy seeds. Then go home and sleep it off.
We tried the The Coorg Food Co., Kalyan Nagar for the first time last night and the food was great, freshly cooked very tasty and well presented. The waiters were attentive and service overall was good. The restaurant ambiance was very good. Overall a good meal and great value we will certainly be going back.
Was expecting some good coorgi food but was left disappointed. The guy taking our order asked if we like our food spicy hot and we said “YES”! To our surprise the only spicy element was the green chili on top of the dish served to us. Wonder if we said no to the earlier spice question then they wouldn’t have given that chili also 😜 The bright side was the mocktails. The lemon shocker was brilliant and I tried the buttermilk it was good. Wouldn’t recommend the masala coke unless you liked that candy called ‘Hajmola’ which used to be sold. Ambience was nice.
This is a place that is just simply amazing, the ambiance in it is just like old Coorg houses. The tables, the chairs, all old school. Beautifully set up. The staff are very friendly and are prompt with service. This is a very quiet place, good for family, good for a quick meeting with your staff and friends. Now for the food, just a simple perfect blend of it's spices and the food turns out to be finger licking good, just perfect. The variety in the Coorg cuisine that they serve is great, you simply wish you had more place in your tummy to be eating more variety. A must are the desserts, don't forget to let that sweet tooth do it's magic. A visit to this place and multiple visits after if what is recommended. The owners are very friendly and appreciate good feed back. So don't forget, enjoy the food and the ambiance and hit the bell on your way out ... And by the way, you can buy a whole lot of goodies from here that's of Coorg. This place is on my "always go to" joint.
Food is great, and so is the ambience. Pandhi curry is a must try. Great for dinner with family or friends. If you are planning for anyone's birthday inform the restaurant one day earlier, and they will arrange for the cake. The best part about this place is that one can enjoy good food without worrying much about his/her pocket.
Coorgi food lovers, be there. My family and friends loved it. Good food, service. Loved the pork, chicken and puttu. To add on, the black coffee to end with is awesome.
