For those who enjoy a meal with lots of meat thrown in, the kodavas are a blessing. Their ability to balance rusticity with finesse is what sets their cuisine apart from most other South Indian food. Plus, they gave the world pandi curry. The Coorg Food Co has a simple menu that does not digress from what it set out to – serve Coorg food. Begin with the kodava koli bhartad (pan-fried chicken with pepper and traditional spices), and the famous smoked pork. Go for the Thith Pandi, a signature, only if you can bear the hot bird’s eye chilli. For main course, it is kadambuttu (steamed rice balls) with either mutton keema curry, or pandi curry all the way. Finish the meal with khus khus payasa – payasam with poppy seeds. Then go home and sleep it off.
