It comes as a little surprise that Farzi Cafe, one of the city’s more recent arrivals, has managed to become one of the most talked about restaurants in town. Housed in Sector 26, the hub of all fine dining in the city, the cafe is split into three sections, all on the ground floor. There is a more formal, albeit rather dull, seating in the front. There is a courtyard in the middle where all the live music happens, followed by a lounge area. The interiors were a letdown for us because of a lack of character. But, all that was quickly forgiven when the menu reached our hands. This is one big fat menu that follows its modern Indian theme to the T. All sections – starters, main course and desserts – are brimming with options and making your selection can take a while. So, do not feel shy in asking the server for the chef’s recommendation. The 'Mishti Doi Amuse Bouche' was the perfect start for us. The 'Dal-Chawal Arancini' truly turns the Italian dish on its head, giving it an Indian touch. The dishes are definitely conversation starters. The palate cleansing continued with a 'Frozen Candy' that had us licking our lips trying to gauge all the flavours. For the main course, the 'Bheja Tawa Masala' was perfect although the 'Crispy Vegetable Sweet Honey Bao' was a bit of a letdown for its limp texture and only potato filling. Also, if you are dining here for the first time, do not expect the same portions for all dishes. It all depends on what you are ordering. Do not miss the 'Parle G Cheesecake' and the 'Dirt Pile' dessert. If you want quiet meals, lunch hours are good, else head on weekends for the live band performances. The latter truly deconstruct the good ol’ brownie like never before. All meals end here with a surprise.
Great Innovative food with very impressive service. Perfectly located in Sector 26 and ambiance is very fresh too. Kudos to Manager Manish and the lady who served us- Khyati for wonderful five star service ! Keep it up Guys !
Awesome food we ordered tempura prawn and they are simply awesome ,also they provided complimentary dessert and way of serving was pretty good
I simply loved their ambience and food. Their food presentation was amazing as well. The staff is really sweet and friendly. Love their courtyard area.Their dirt-pit dessert is a must try! :-)
Tried different types of wine from different regions at the wine tasting session. Really loved the session along with a great info. My favourite were champagne and rose sparkling wine.
It's an interesting experience to visit this place. Our hostess Khayati was very welcoming and well informed about the menu. The dishes were presented very innovatively. The mishti doi shot as an appetiser was interesting. The pav bhaji came in a cute truck. The bhatti ka murg was delicious as was the Malabar mutton. Lahori chicken was presented in an interesting stack but was average. Saag makki ki roti was again very different with the roti made like a pie with saag stuffing and looking like a boat but taste wise average. Kadhi and ghee rice was pretty good. The dal was excellent with frothy cream as a topping. Their breads were very average with the malabar parantha being the worst- hard and chewy. Tres leche rasmalai was again interestingly presented. But the taste was just okay. Full marks to them for presentation. The one thing that irks is the hard bench seat which was very uncomfortable.
