Do you like to cycle? Maybe sporting a neon vest and reflective helmet, zipping through the highway before the crack of dawn? You may want to stop reading immediately, and let Ciclo cafe (a cycling-themed cafe) take your money. But if, like me, you are too self-conscious or sceptical about trusting your backside to Indian road sensibilities on 2-inch wheels, finish reading this and then let Ciclo Cafe take your money. Rarely does such an eatery so comprehensively and, earnestly ace everything it strives to be. Beaming onto the Gandhi Mandapam Road, Ciclo Cafe’s houses a cycle (and cycling accessories) showroom, a little cycling-focussed library and a nonchalantly cheerful dining space that stays true to the theme. It is the kind of cafe you could find a corner to type away an afternoon over fast, free wifi. Ciclo’s kitchen serves fairly common (& comforting) staples, but with an uncommon virtuosity.
The restaurant is very interesting with a them of bicycling. The number and types of bicycles on display alongwith the names of bicycling groups in Chennai is very informative. The staff are great, very helpful and extremely courteous. The menu is excellent with a variety of continental dishes and also dishes for the Indian palate. I would have given this a 5-star but for the price. It is a bit expensive.
A new neighborhood cafe and dining. Loved it for its ambience. The small is not too big, and may get crowded on weekends. The food is good, prices are reasonable, staff is friendly. Overall a good alternative in indirangar.
The ambiance is the show stealer. The lighting, retro music & the window seating overlooking the road, made the whole experience so mesmerizing. The staff is very courteous and helpful. We had ordered roasted tomato and basil soup, kheema pav, orange mojito and foccacia bread. It was good enough for 2 people and costed around Rs1200. The menu is pretty interesting with Dhansak mutton as well. However, we did not try it. There is enough choice of veg/nonveg food. A definite try.
When you order food here, it's better to share as one dish is enough for two people. We had burger and pasta and we were finding unable to complete due to quantity and unable to stop due to the awesome taste. It provides a vast variety of dishes and shakes so you won't have an issue with choice. The cafe itself is decorated with cycles all around and even on the walls. As the name suggests, they have an adjacent place to buy or rent cycles and come to this cafe when you feel hungry.
I've visited a few times. and they are generally good. but this last visit, they served me a dish that had frozen, uncooked portions of fish. i brought this to their attention, but it didnt seem to elicit any response beyond the "we will inform the Chef". that they were so casual about it, is worrying. I didnt have a great rest of the day either - thanks to consuming uncooked fish.
